Falling Rock

–––––––

Exploring my love for all things nature-related, I wanted to create a dynamic river of pebbles winding down an invisible riverbed. Even had time to mix together my own audio design with a collection of clips I’ve acquired over the years to give it a natural vibe that hits the senses.

This project also came about because I was looking for an interesting subject to test Maxon Cinema4D's latest Rigid Body Dynamics update. Blown away how stable the updated dynamics are even on this many unique objects (thousands to be exact). When it works this well the whole process becomes play and I can focus in on creative choices much quicker. Lots of exciting possibilities.

I used some invisible geometry to create a path for the river of pebbles. After stabilizing the overall theme simulation of the pebbles, careful attention went into lighting. I went for a moody and vibrant color scheme. I had the idea to put a variety of sounds to each scene early on and knew light sweeps to reveal the pebbles gradually would lay in well with audio mix I created.
